Copy between applications

Hello and thanks for any help.

I have a layer that I want to copy and paste into another jpg application in
photoshop. Paste, Cut, Copy is not available. Even as a smart object.

I would like to move a section or layer into another jpeg.

Getting flustered!!:mad: Please help.

just save the separate layer as a jpg close all others layers first

no - it does not work jpg to jpg even. thanks.
