Help with Navigation Buttons

Hi, my name is Amy and I'm new here.

To cut to the chase, I have been unemployed for over a year and am desperately trying to start a side-business before I go bankrupt.

As part of trying to learn how to build my own website with PHP/MySQL, I would like to create some professional looking navigation tabs and buttons so people take my website seriously.

Unfortunately I know virtually nothing about Photoshop and only have an old copy of Photoshop 6, which means most online tutorials are useless to me.

I don't mind asking questions in forums, but honestly could use some one-on-one help.

I found a tutorial online that creates what I want, but I am inexperienced with Photoshop that I am stuck from the get-go.

Is there one or more Photoshop gurus who would be willing to do some hand-holding?
