Disappearing/fading effect help |

Hi, I'm looking for a similar result like the link below, where Take Thats faces disappear/fade, how can i achieve this in photoshop with a colour picture? Thanks soooo much http://www.takethat.com/ |

Well, looking at the pic, I'd say that most of that effect was pulled off in the photography. The group was shot with a light source one side, which cast shadows on the opposite side. The only real work done in Ps was probably adding a good deal of contrast, which gives that fade effect you're looking for. That said, you can still get a similar effect by using a black to transparent gradient layer over the top of your original pic. Depending on the photo, you may have to use the pen tool to create a selection where you want to cast your "shadow." Once you have your selection, then experiment with the gradient to get the right look. You may have to play around with the gradient layer's opacity, and maybe add a bit of gaussian blur as well. |
