vector mask

every time I try to Make a new shape regardless of what it is it creates a Vector mask and a new vector mask path. How do i turn that off what do i have to do this is getting really annoying.

you need to change the "Fill Type" from "New Shape Layer" to something like "Path" for an empty shape, or "Fill Pixels" to fill the path with the foreground color.

You will find these settings in the top left corner of the screen while the "Shapes" tool is selected
