I've been using Photoshop for a short time and, somehow, thumbnails no longer show up when I'm looking through my files. I have no idea why or what I did to lose this function but any help would be very much appreciated. |

if you're useing ps6, and you installed a third party program like ACDSee, the thumbnailing will be ovewritten and taken over by that proggy... Thats what i think is hitin' you pc, cause i did that. The thumbnailing was sucking my resources |

Ok, should have made myself clearer. I'm using PS3 on a Power Mac 6100/66. I've lost my thumbnails and don't know where to find them. Don't have a lot of programming extras, nothing that I think woud interfere with PS. If more info is needed, feel free to e mail me.

since you are on a Mac, snarkafluff... your best bet to try first is to Quit photoshop, go into your "preferences" folder inside your "system folder", find the photoshop preferences file and drag it to the trash.... then launch photoshop... A new prefernces file will be created apon the restarting of PS. doing this, you will lose some settings and stuff that you have set, but if it doesn't fix the problem you can always reinstall the old "pref" file by simply dragging it back into the preferences folder and then saying "ok or Yes" when asked if you want to replace the existing file. If trashing the preferences doesn't work, post again and we can try something else. << Thinking-out-loud- I have a hard time remembering Version 3, wasn't there a checkbox in the "open" dialog that said "view thumbnails"? >> |

OK, tried trashing prefs but no change in thumbnail. And, yes, I do have the thumbnail box checked. Oddly, it does show the thumbnail of a picture downloaded form a friend. ????????? Is it me? Is it my Mac? |

Ok, that may shed a little light on the problem... SOme files don't save thumbnail data, some do. Check your photoshop preferences ">edit >preferences" and make sure you have in the "saving files" section set to produce thumbs. I NEVER see thumbnails of .GIF images but I always see .PSD and .JPG thumbnails. Is it specific file "types" giving you the problem? |

Tried working on prefs but to no avail. It showed all types of thumbnails before, now it shows only the newest one. Don't know if its because its the newest one wo what, but I always had thumbnails of all pictures before and now I don't. Hey, people, I do appreciate the various efforts. Keep 'em comming. |
