Hi everyone. Was just wondering if anyone knew how to achieve a simlar image effect to the one shown on this great website (the textures of the shed, the walls and everything in the shed): http://www.patagonia.com/web/us/tinshed/index.jsp and also: http://ge.ecomagination.com/smartgrid/#/landing_page I have seen this style on many flash sites but have no idea what has been done to the original photos to get the surrealness and 3d feel. Is it the type of filter on the camera, or can the photo be manipulated afterwards in photoshop. Thanks in advance. |

I would suggest it is simply a photograph. The shed was shot with the door open, and then also shut. The door frame is masked in Photoshop and the door from the photo with it shut was cut out and animated. I would be possible to build a 3D shed and apply the outside as texture maps, but there is no point. |

What, specifically, is the "surreal effect" that you're referring too? Do you mean the glow within the shed when looking at it from the outside? If so, this effect can be applied to any photograph of your choosing rather simply. Take your original photo and duplicate it. Next, apply a Gaussian Blur of approximately 10 pixels (more or less, to your liking). Then, set that layer's mode to Overlay. You can play around with the opacity to create varying degrees of "dreaminess." |
