frozen toolbox

I have encountered a problem with the application photoshop 5.5 itself: the main toolbox is frozen which means that you cannot any more access the hidden tools available like the scissors etc. I have reinstalled photoshop several times but nothing helps. Does anybody know this problem and how to overcome it? Since now photoshop has become useless to me....

Does save work?

If so, save your file — restart your computer — trash your preferences file and relaunch Photoshop. Can't go wrong there.

You will have trouble finding the "scissors" tool though, since there isnt one :-( Theres a slice tool. Try Illustrator if you want some scissors!

Ps 6 puts its "prefs" file in the "application data" folder on windows operating systems.

On a mac it is in the "preferences" folder
