you know the ~PST8443.tmp file you get when running photoshop in Windows for a while?

Can you trash that or something to speed things up? Mine is 1,340,517 kb right now, and I'm running out of room on my D drive. I already tried purging, and that didn't affect it.

?

I could be wrong here, it's been a while since I read up on this stuff:

Let's assume you have Photoshop installed on your C drive. When you open your pshop preferences, you should have your scratch disk pointed to another drive, if possible. Mine is D. That's where the temp file goes.

so, look to see where your scratch disk is, and that should be where this big fat ugly temp file is located.

additionally, I believe you are "supposed" to designate double the size of your average file for scratch. Is that right?

I don't have the Adobe manual handy, but here's the stuff from a ps 6 seminar I went to last year:

"Photoshop requires a good, fast and de-fragmented space on your hard drive. It is best to partition your hard drive and set aside about 1 Gig as a scratch disk to be used by Photoshop. Note: you can set up to 4 hard drives."

hope that helps ya out.

Is this the only drive you have? I was getting a low drive space problem on my 2 gig, which only contains my OS, and that's where the temp file was being stored. So I swapped it to my other drive, which is 45 GB, so I don't have to worry about the space. It shouldn't effect speed though, it just stores information while you're working on something.

That file goes away though, when you close the image you're workin on, or close PS. At least it should. Mine does.
