I am trying to create a worn-out look for some objects and text. Can anyone tell me how to achieve a result like the one's in the examples on this web page www.droors.com/PAGES/teesFALL.html The examples to look at are 'beat up', 'lA county' & 'crusty' also see their logo at the top of the page. The closest I have got is to use the eraser tool with the pencil mode selected and using a large'ish roling rag brush. Any better ways to do this?? Thanks Terril |

hey that was fun - I played around with your problem text, and found that if you make a new layer over it, run some clouds, adjust them in Levels to get hi contrast, then add some Noise, blur it a little, then group it to your text layer (ctl/cmd-G), you can get the effect for the "beat up" and "crusty" pretty easily. (maybe experiment with other filters on your cloud layer, too.) However, for the mast banner, I think you'll have to find the font, then just place it over a layer with that texture on it. You sound like you're on the right track with the Eraser tool... good luck, hope some of this helps. graphicsguy |

I would suggest also using some custom Photoshop brushes. Surfstation has a collection with some nice "grund/beat-up" brushes: http://www.surfstation.lu/00_dropbox/content/YG/01/pica_dr.htm |
