clipping path problem

i have a problem when take my picture and its clipping path through to freehand there is a black background someone told me it has to do with the preferences how do i work this ?

I'm not absolutly sure I understand the question/problem.

You are making a clipping path on a photo in Photoshop....
Then opening that photo in freehand? and its Black? The whole image?

I use freehand daily since version 3, I'm sur eI can help... just give me a more detailed account of your steps.

when i do the clipping path and take it across to freehand the background shows up black? if that makes any sense the picture shows up fine but the outer area shows up black
