Color Changing

Hey, I know I've been putting a lot of stress on people about that same old banner, but I promise you this time that it won't be the same stupid questions of mine, but questions that are worth the time. 1. How did he change the color of the pics to that red color? I've tried using the hue/saturation thing but it doesn't seem to turn out right, well my main point is how can i change the color of something to any color I want, I've tried, overlays but they don't look like it either, I just want to be able to chang it to a color that I want to change it to.

Try desaturating the picture first (that means turning it into black and white), and then use hue/saturation with 'Colorize' checked on.
