I have this pic: I would like to take out the console. The background is white and the console is black, so it should be real easy, but I can't think of a way. Usually I would just CTRL+Click the layer to select the console, but since the layer is locked I can't do that. What's the best way to do this? There should be an easier way then using the lasso tools. Thanks |

I would just use the Magic Wand. (Press W) Then click on the white area. You can play with the tolerance settings at the top to tweak your selection. Oh, and the Gamecube rules... |

Oh, I forgot that I can use the magic wand on the background as well. ;) Thanks PS-I don't like the Xbox, but I want this pic because I'm trying to make a Dead or Alive 3 Sig. I have a PS2 and maybe I'll get a Gamecube this Christmas. :D |

Simple method.... nice results. Open that pic: Go to the channels pallet. Make a duplicate of the "blue" channel and select it. Now go to >IMAGE>ADJUST>THRESHOLD and adjust it where the edges are nice and sharp and you get rid of as many little white places in the image as you can. Now take the pencil tool and paint all the little white places in the "x-box" area and make them black. once you have a nice black and white image just do your CTR+click on they blue diplicate layer and you'll have the selection.... in about 35 seconds or so. |

EDIT- Wait.. I have a question. After I copied the Blue Channel, Thresholded it, and colorerd in the white Xbox pieces, and CTRL-Clicked the copied layer, I get little marching ants around the entire image. Not just the Xbox but also the border of the pic. How do I get the selection only around the Xbox? Thanks |

hmmm... I'm not sure why you are getting that... you could do the ctr+alt+1 = selects white area ctr+shift+I = inverts selection |

AHHHH, if there are marching ants around the xbox AND the entire canvas... just do ctr+shift+I to invert the selection.
