Hi, everybody. I'm pretty new to Photoshop, and I'm working with some Vector Objects (I don't have Illustrator). My question is: is there a Keyboard Shortcut for the "Convert Point" (/\) Tool? Having to go back to the ToolBar to click the whatchamacallit (/\) icon to activate the tool is a pain the gonads... Or, is there a way to "customize" my own shortcut for this? Thanks a lot in advance! |

You may be able to find what you're looking for here: http://user.fundy.net/morris/downloads/Photoshop6HotKeys.pdf |

Ah, sorry. I'm at work and don't have access to photoshop, but I'll try to take a look tonight. I'm sure someone else will find a solution before then though.

While the Pen Tool is active, just hold down the Option/ALT key and the "Convert Anchor" icon will appear and be be temporarily active.

Thanks for the tip, Utopian23!! Pretty useful when drawing the vectors. However, when I'm modyfing a vector shape, I usually have to switch from the "Direct Selection Tool (A)" - the white arrow- to the "Convert Anchor Point (/\)", and that's what I'm looking for: a keyboard shortcut to toggle these 2 tools. I haven't been able to find this SC - I think it doesn't exist. :( Again, thanks a lot, Deker & Utopian23! Have Phun. |

'Scuse me if I confuse this with operations in Illustrator...Off the top of my head, I think they're the same.... Before you activate the Pen Tool (P), hit the "A" key to activate the Direct Selection Tool (white arrow). Then when you again activate the Pen Tool you can temporarily switch to the Direct Selection Tool by holding the Command/CTRL key. Add the SHIFT key to select multiple points, line segments or objects. If you most recently used the Move Tool (V), that's what will appear when you hold down the Command/CTRL key. i.e. whichever tool you use before switching to the Pen Tool...that's what will appear when you hold the Command/CTRL key while the Pen Tool is active. Get into the habit of experimenting, when you're just playing around, with various combinations of Modifier keys (Mac/Windows equivalents......Command/CTRL....Option/ALT....Control/Right Click.....SHIFT/SHIFT) while using your tools. By discovering some of the extended features yourself you may be more likely to remember them than you would by simply reading about them. I've discovered hidden features over the years that I had never seen documented anywhere. It's kind of like finding a long-buried-and-forgotten treasure. |
