Can I rotate a single layer within a canvas?

running PS6 , I would like to know if its possible to rotate an individual layer within a canvas say 90 or 180 degrees? There is a drop down option to rotate the entire canvas but can I just do an individual layer?

I know i could just duplicate this layer and in the destination option, choose new - this would put it in it's own canvas - which I could then rotate and then re-import back into my original - but I was just wondering if there was a quicker way?

Just select your layer on the Layer palette, and go to:

Edit > Transform > Rotate

below rotate there is a "rotate 180" and "rotate CW/CCW 90" degrees if tha tis exactly what you want. also if you choose what mobile said, hold down the shift key when youre rotating the layer to rotate in exactly 45 degree increments.
