a better question. once i save the mask as an alpha channel, how do i use it as a mas

i saved a mask i made as an alpha channel, but i dont know how to use it as a mask again. can someone help?

Click on your Channels menu... then click on the channel that you made from the mask. Probably called Alpha 1? Then click on the little button that looks like a dotted outline of a circle... if you put your mouse pointer over it it will say, "Load channel as selection" When you click on it it will make the selection in the shape of your mask. Then you can go back to your layers menu and use it.
