Hey all I was just wondering if you knew of an action that would make specific sized thumbnails for an entire folder of graphics.

K.F....

Are all the graphics in the folder the same size, or do they have the same height-to-width ratio?

If either one of these is the case, this is fairly easy to do, and it'll only take you a couple minutes and a small bit of effort to customise your own, new action to batch process the images in the folder.

It gets a little dicey when the images have different height-to-width ratios, because then you need to decide to which dimension you want to scale all the images.

Soooo, my next question to you is this: Are you familiar with how to create your own actions?

Well unfortnuately no, I'm not really all that familiar with actions I just know that they can make life easier when it comes to doing the same thing many times.

See the reason I'm asking is because my school is doing their web site and they want thumbnails for their galleries, which would tyhen open an image that was a set size in a seperate window.

I've been using photoshop for a while know and understand the basics but I unfortunately don't know anything about actions.

Now as for all the graphics being the same size I do beleive that at least most of them will be fromthe same digital camera and so I would assume to be the same size.

Can you or some one please help?

I have not tried it, nor do I have any idea if it will work, but what if you made sure your Proportions were constrained, and you changed the image size by %?

EDIT:
Nevermind, I re-read the question about making all the images the SAME size.

Kayflash,

There's in easy way to do that, actually two:
1) Go to file>automate>Contact Sheet II which will actually create a .psd with all the thumbnails on a seperate layer.

2) Go to file>automate>Web Photo Gallery
Photoshop will create a web gallery containing neat little folders, large images and thumbnails.

Try it!:D
