Please, I need to know if my drawing is in Alpha channel. I figured out this so far: I found out that there's a channels tab in the same box where the History is. I click on Make New Channel, and it makes a channel called Alpha 1...BUT, my whole image turns black! Can anyone help?! ALSO, how can I check if it's a 24-bit image? |

This is totally natural for Photoshop to do. A channel starts out black. A channel will only be represented by shades of black and white. Go back to your Layers menu, and your graphic will look normal again once you click on a regular layer. Making new channels will not harm your image or mess up what it looks like. Very simply. If your channels menu has 3 channels, red, green, and blue, you have a 24-bit image. RGB and Lab color modes are both 24-bit. Each channel is 8-bit, so 8+8+8=24 bit. Thats how the math goes with color in Photoshop. A grayscale image has only 1 channel and is only 8-bit. And if you switch your color mode to CMYK, your image is 32-bit since it has 4 channels (8+8+8+8=32) |
