Grungy-type edges?

Yet again, another question about Sillium GFX (one of my favs) :D

Now anyway, on the splash page of Sillium GFX (http://www.sillium.org), you'll see 2 images with a white grungy-type border.

I was wondering how he did that, can someone help me here? Or can Decta tell me HIMSELF!!!!! :D

It just looks to me like the got out the 1 pixel pencil eraser and erased some lines or whatever. He could've used a biger custom brush too just to make the work go faster but I don't think there's any complicated way to do it.

Hint: When doing something. Try the simplest way first. A lot of times it works the best.

I don't understand step 10........where's the displace filter and etc.

I just don't get step 10! they should be more specific of where the displace filter is.

Can someone help me?

yeah that step 10 almost caught me out.... read step 7

"7. Now that you have created the texture save it as a PSD file."

When you select the displace filter, it then asks to select a file, this is where 'step7.psd' is used.
