Wacom has a feature on their site that allows you to put in all your info, such as desk size and other stuff, then it tells you what size tablet would be best for you. Snore |

If you don't know what size you should use, you should probably go with the small one. There are a couple of sizes. One that I am going to try out is the cordless stylus/mouse combination. The pad is about the size of a mouse pad (6" x 8"). If you get a pad that has a stylus/mouse combo, you'll never have to worry about your mouse getting stuck and/or jump again. Pretty neat technology. SavageDawg Akuta-Graphics |

You make me laugh (c)... You first question was about which one to buy, then you asked what you use it for. Does anyone else think those questions are a little out of order? Anyways. One would use a tablet for superior control of the mouse. Everone can use a pen or pencil far more accurately than a mouse or trackball. Therefore sketches, airbrushings, and anything else you can think of in the graphic arts or design world can benifit from a Wacom. (shameless plug) Hehe :D I want one. Yet I want a new computer, a car... Etc, etc... Once I get some cash I may think about it. If you find yourself being limited my your mouse, getting a tablet may be a good choice. |

A mouse is great to use, but only for general graphic design that requires no hand drawn artwork or precise airbrushing. Trying to draw with any mouse is downright impossible. The control of a pen to draw with on a pc alone makes it worth the price. Pressure sensitivity like most tablets have comes in SO handy when airbrushing as well. I felt the same way before I got a tablet. "How much better could it be?" But there actually is a whole other world of graphic design opened to you when you get one. |

Ah yes! Pressure sensitivity alone is almost worth it.

for about $100 (US) The Graphire from Wacom is the way to go...its active surface is 4x5 (inches) and has 512 levels of pressure sensitivity...(511 more than a mouse) They are also WAY more precise when working with very small movements. You can spend alot more money, and get alot better tablet with like double the pressure sensitivity....but if you aren't sure what to do with it....you don't need to spend more than the 100 bucks |

I'm no expert, I just try to read a bit. I think there's a lot of people on the forum that would perfer not to call themselves experts (exceptions of course). But thanks for the compliments dude! I think I speak for many on this one. :D |
