using fonts in photoshop..whats the deal?

okay...

i am new to using photoshop on a mac.
I have downloaded various fantastic fonts from equally fantastic font-designers, yet none of them show up in photoshop's font list?

they are mostly suitcases (.suit), but even some truetypes don't show.

Help would be grand.

I would suspect you have tryed intstalling type 1 fonts without the aid of a font managment application.

I suggest going to http://adobe.com and downloading the "free" ATM (ATM = type manager) and use it to install your fonts. with this tool you can activate and deactivate fonts at your every whim.


As far as the "true type" fonts go, are you sure they are mac true type fonts?

I'm going to go with a vote for the egg! After all, the cells have to be generated one by one until the final product can be seen (product = chicken).

No! Wait, I'm going to say CHICKEN... Because how would the egg be lain without a parent of the species?

Just kidding. I'm seriously going with egg. Eggs can evolve from single cells. Fullblown chickens can NOT (This does NOT say that they can't evolve from the egg that has been developed through cell morphing).

The Egg did most certainly come first.... reptilian life were laying eggs for a life time before ANY ceature had feathers. All because Eggs CAN evolve from a single cell, and the reptiles from those original single cell eggs.


Off to find another riddle.....

it turns out I was installing them onto the wrong boot-up...I am running two seperate boots and I put them in the font folder for the non-photoshop boot.

My bad.

But thanks for the ATM...forgot about that one when i switched to mac.

As for the chicken and the egg, well, I would have to say that most likely the egg came first, as the genome team from jurassic park likely spliced wild turkey genes into the gaps of the reptilian dna, and, well, you have all seen the movie.

I haven't seen the second two, but I thought that they created the eggs via splicing FROG genes into the missing sections... And that's what caused the asexual reproduction problem... But I could be wrong. Wild Turkey is a booze.. heh heh Turkey genes would have ruined the whole concept of amphibious (sp?) reptiles... they would have grown thin skin and light fluffy feathers... (down)
