Easy stuff. First off, I'll show you how to do the second two ways. With the circle marquee chosen (circular lasso), create your outer area. Hold the Alt key (makes the next selection a subtraction of the first) and create the second, inner circle. Make sure you place it exactly where you want it. If you mess up, Ctrl-Z to undo and try again. Next, to add then next "filled" section (by filled, I mean it is going to be PART of the selection, not the transparency). Hold the Shift key and create a circle inside the second. This will add to the selection. Do this over and over until you have the desired "ring-like" selection. Another way: Create a circle and fill it. Selection>Modify>Contract> (number you want contracted). Create a new layer. Fill this circle. Repeat these steps (contract the selection, new layer, fill) until you have the right amount of circles. Now, here's the tricky part. (It may not work for all of you) Ctrl-click the bottom layer. This will select the outermost ring. Now, holding onto the Alt key, click the layer above it. This will subtract the second circle from the first. After that, Shift+click the third layer, this will add to the selection the shape of the third circle. I think you can see where I'm going with that. Now, to the multiple circle combined selection: After making the first circle, hold Shift, and create the next circle. This will add (or combine, if you will) both selection into a complex selection. Hope this helps , SavageDawg Akuta-Graphics |

Umm, that tutorial isn't asking for a bunch of overlapped selections. It's asking you to create a bunch of circle outlines overlapping. Thus, you create a circle outline, create another an a second layer, merge down, create a new layer, create a new circle outline, merge down. I have uploaded an example of what I think you are trying to do (ignore the imagery... That's part of an image I'm working on now, I just did it to have a photo show through like you have read in the tut). http://www.akuta-graphics.f2s.com/Images/OverLapExample.jpg (Sorry if the loadtime is slow) What I did was exactly as I told you, create an outline of a circle (one circle, Select>Modify>Contract-1), press delete. New Layer, new outline, new layer, new outline, etc, etc. Then merge down all circle layers. Hope this helps a bit. SavageDawg Akuta-Graphics |

Nope, purely accidental. However, if it makes you feel better, OK, I did. ;) I'm beginning to like the commaradary around here. It allows people to fit in nicely...
