Typing Tool Problem

Just recently i got a problem with my typing tool. Nomally when using the tool it creates a new layer with the text.
But now, when trying to just write a text with the tool the picture turns transparent red. It does not create a new layer and i can't accept the text so it stays on the pic, when i do something else the text disappears.
What can be the problem? i've tried to reset photoshop settings, but without any results.

hi,
check your mode setting... you may have it set for "index" .. that would cause it to show those symptoms.. so change your mode to something else like RGB... then after finsihed if you need then you can go back to index if required...

You have selected the Type Mask Tool.

Select one of the normal text tools by clicking and holding the mouse on the T in the tool bar to select a new type tool.

You can also repeatedly hit the Shift +T key to toggle between the different type tools.
