When I create a new action that includes layer masking or even dodging and burning on each of 36 images, these commands dont work, where simple things like sizing, sharpening, levels, do. Can someone tell me if it is possible to do those more complex things with actions and if so, what am I doing wrong. Many thanks for the help or suggestions. Harry |

Hi Harry, If you are trying to record painting on the mask with the Brush -- it's impossible. As a workaround, I'd suggest selecting unnecessary area (e.g., with the Lasso tool) and then converting the selection to mask (Layer > Layer Mask > Hide Selection) |

Thanks Andrei, You gave me somthing to try and it worked, well enough to use. This was a situation where I had 36 images of a Native clay pot to render into a QTVR object movie. There was an area of each pot shot that had a highlight area I wanted to tone down. The way I normally do it is with layer masking, but this did not work in actions. I tried your idea of using the lasso tool, selecting an area, feathering it greatly and applying a level change to that area bringing it more in line wih the rest of the area. I ran a quick test with this as an action and it worked on all the images. Thanks for pointing me in this direction. Harry |
