It's very annoying to work with lasso and i dont know any other technique. Thanks ! |

One way or another, you have to draw a selection around the part you want to copy to a new layer. When using the lasso tool, you should use a combination of the different types of lasso available, Freehand, Magnetic, Polygon etc. A more difficult, but more exact, way to do it would be to use the Pen tools to create paths around the object and then convert that to a selection. There's no easy one click way to do this unless the object is substantially one colour. In that case you could use the Magic Wand or Select Colour Range options. Another oprion that may work in certain circumstances is the Extract tool. |

hi, george did a pretty good job in addressing different ways of selection... and as you finding out there a lot of ways to do the same thing.. it just depends on the image which is the best.... another way besides what mentioned is layer or channel masking..!!! I found channel masking is one of my favorites (pen tool is great but i am poor in using it.. takes a lot of practice for me..lol) there a lot of tutorial on channel or layer masking... just do a search for PHOTOSHOP TUTORIAL CHANNEL MASKING and you'll get a lot of hits.. russelbrown.com has a nice movie tutorial on it called advance.. |
