Him a newbie and am having what i think must be an amateur problem.

I have a background ( a brush that i downloaded as a template). I also have designed a logo. I want the logo to be superimposed on the background...but there is a white square edge around the logo blanking out the background.

Can you tell me how i can make the background of the logo transparent so that i can see the graphic background?

Cheers!

There are many was to select pixel by color
The quickest way I found to do it is to use your color range command.
you can find this option in the top menu bar under theheading of "Select",
in the pop down window is a "color range" option, choose this and you will get a dialog box with a eyedropper tool, and a "fuzziness" slider, use the eye droper tool to select what pixels you want to remove, and use the fuzzieness slider to add more pixels or subtract pixels from the selection, you can shift clikc with the eyedroper to select exact pixels to add to your selection, once you are happy with it, of close to it, hit ok and delete the pixels,
If this isnt the right method for his particular image, you can use the "magic wand" of the magnetic laso tool, and if you want to get supper custom you can use the pen tool to trace the logo.
Hope this helps
