Hello, I have photoshop cs2 & 3 on about 5 different computers throughout my home/work and i'm having a problem with cs3 creating layers at home. Normally, when I paste an image from an outside source or draw a shape, create text, etc,... it creates a seperate layer. It does not do that on this computer. I don't know what settings I screwed up, but I've searched the help files and found nothing relevant to help me. I have to manually create a new layer and its annoying. Please help. Thank you |

It's been my experience that photoshop will automatically paste into an empty layer, but if there's been anything done to it that it will create a new layer. I don't know of any options pertaining to this - perhaps you're using PS for different tasks at home, and that's why it's behaving differently? The inconsistent behavior in this area tends to bug me, too, especially when trying to automate a task. |

Hi, Check your image color mode (Image > Mode > ...) Perhaps, you are pasting into "Indexed Color" document. Also, when creating shapes, make sure that "Shape layers" mode is selected in the Options bar. |
