Hi all...

I`m new so be easy on me Lol... Like the site, I`ve picked up one or two tips already...

I would like to know how I go about saving an image at 800x600 as every time I try to do this it looks "squashed" Lol...

E.G

I take my image, crop it just at the edges, add whatever effects I want etc, go to "Image" then "Image Size" but this is where my problem begins...

In Image Size I would like to make my image as I said, 800x600 (maybe 800x640) (pixels Lol) but when I untick "Constrain Proportions" and enter these sizes and click OK my image looks squashed in at the sides...???

Lost...?

I`ve tried various things but to no avail... hence my post for help :D

I`m using CS2 and complete newbie to it so bare with me please. I`m also on a widescreen LCD 1680x1050 just incase that matters... (as I take screenshots of sims etc too)

Thanks for reading and I hope someone can help...

tj

Hi tj

The problem comes from un-checking 'constrain proportions'. The original image must not be in proportion to 800 x 600.

You might be better off using the Crop Tool to re-size the image:-

Select the Crop Tool from the Toolbox. Enter 800px and 600px in the 'width' and 'height' boxes in the Tool Options bar. Then drag the Crop Tool over the image until the bounding box covers the part of the image you want to keep.
The bounding box will always be in pro to 800 x 600. If you want to switch to 600 x 800 click the arrows in between the 'width' and 'height' boxes.

Just be aware that if your original image is not in pro to 800 x 600 you are going to lose some pixels using this method.

Hope it helps

And press enter when you have selected the part of the image you want to keep.
