Hi Folks, I´m quite new to webdesign with PS. I wanna know what your favourite methode for beveling objects is ? As a PS6 User it is very easy with the Layer-Styles or Eyecandy4000. But I like to know how beveling can be done without these little helpers. thx in advance Sieglander |

create two layers above your shape you want to add a bevel to. ctrl-click the shapes layer and nudge it in one direction and select inverse. then airbrush one side. ctrl-click your shapes layer again select inverse and press delete. then use a darker color, nudge in the opposite direction and repeat the other steps. |

You can bevel with just about anything, so long as you have a highlight color and a shadow color to give whatever you're beveling a 3D effect. For small, windows-style bevels, you can use a single pixel wide pencil tool and draw with that. Using layer masks to keep portions of a picture from being drawin upon is also the best method for using an airbrush or other large drawing tool from running over what you intend to bevel. |
