Hi everyone.
I installed Photoshop CS2 yesterday and began having problems immediately. The program was sluggish and "loading" bars appeared when actions were taking place.
Can someone please tell me if my system specs are up to scratch?.
My system specs are :

Windows XP Service Pack 2
2800+ AMD Athalon
768 MB RAM
9200 Radeon gfx Card
40.9GB remaining out of 80gb HD

p.s, i looked in my Windows Task Manager and it tells me i am using 1.02 GB of page files, is this normal?.

it should be alrite but what is the speed of your hardrive? also more RAM could be had but that goes for everyone :p

also just checking to see if your processor is fast as im not sure with AMD im a Intel boy.

Also when was the last time you fragmented your hard drive? if you havent then follow these steps

start>all programs>accessories>system tools>Disk de fragmenter. select you disk and let it run.

you should do this when you have a spare 3 hours if it hasn't been done and basically what it will do is sort or all the fragmented files and arrange them and sort them out.

Also is this computer connected to the internet? just make sure that regular scans are made and that there ain't no big viruses hiding on your system.

there are many more but these are some of the basics!

:D

Your specs are plenty fine man, my suggestion would be to just run a couple of the programs to "clean up" your computer and see what you can do there. Uninstall any junk programs you don't use anymore and get your whole PC running faster and you should be in good shape.

Thanks for the help folks :-)
It has been a long, long time since i have defragged my hard disk, so i better make that a priority. I will also carry out the other steps mentioned.
Once again, thanks

i'd say you're fine. the only thing i would add, is that if you can you should have PS installed on a separate partition to the OpSys. a good idea would be a separate gig partition for PS, and say a 10 gig partition for your scratch drive. make sure memory allocation is sensible too - opinions vary, but i've heard on boards that about 60 - 80% is cool, i leave 150meg for the opsys etc.
