I am using Photoshop CS and have been assigned a rather tedious task at the office, consisting of resizing hundreds of pictures. Rather than doing them all manually, I've tried to automate the batch using a set of actions I "recorded", but for some reason all the pictures keep getting saved as the same one under a different name and it's annoying... The set of actions I recorded were as follows: -Open -> Open image file -Image Size -> Width: xx pixels, height: yy pixels -Save -Close When choosing automated batch, I choose the source folder and destination folder in an attempt to not get into a mess of naming/renaming files, but I'm suspecting this is where the problem lies. In any case, any help or pointers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

OK I had the same problem, had solved my own problem the following way : Never use a "open" command in an action, this complicates matters, and seems to be your problem, as everytime you run the action, the command in the action opens the photo you used while recording the action. Using the source folder automatically opens the 'next' file Don't use destination folders - select none in the list, as you are going to use the save as command in your action. So open 1 of the files, before recording. Try to use percentages instead of certain pixel values, takes a minute or two to figure out (canon 8mp raws/tiffs, resized to Jumbo size(10x15cm) is 52%) - This help when working with both portrait and landscape images) Make sure that the image is flattened in the action (if you use unedited tiffs, or only JPEGS, don't worry about this) Use the SAVE AS command, and create a different folder to save the files in eg Resized or something. Don't edit anything in the filename - (you'll have to use the Bridge Batch Rename function to do before or after) Close the image and stop recording. So the Steps will be 1. Open the File 2. Start recording Action 3. Resize 4. Save As 5. Close 6. Stop Action Recording. Hope this helps!! |
