help with PS 6.01 problem

All of a sudden ( although I did have some crash problems and had to do a reset of my Mac G4 with 1 gig of ram ) but now when I go to BATCH or THUMBNAIL and where the menu shoudl allow me to select a folder, it DOESN'T allow me to do this , the area is not dimmed it simply doesn't go to my hard drive and allow me to select a folder, I click and it sort of blinks and that's it.

The EXACT same PS 6.01 folder has been after this problem transferred from another computer ( my laptop ibook) where it worked just fine and guess what the same thing!!

It's driving me crazy, any HELP!!! Has this happened to others. Everthing else seems to work fine. it does open folders and accesses the HD when opening files, etc

It seems to be limited to BATCH and THUMBNAIL sections.

more often than not those crazy little problems like that are caused by corrupt preferences file.....
