What is the simplest way to get rid of jaggies? I have some text in bitmap form that I want to reduce in size (I don't have the font, unfortunately), but when I do, it looks very rough. Thanks in advance. :D |

It's kind of difficult to outline exact steps without seeing the image. Text in bitmap (i.e. 1 bit black and white) would be notoriously difficult to scale and have it look good. Again, without seeing it, it's tough, but I would first change the mode to Grayscale, possibly bump up the pixel/inch resolution, apply some Gaussian blur, adjust using Levels, Unsharp mask, maybe, then reduce the height/width dimensions. If it's not a huge amount of text and it was really important, I'd trace it in vectors. Good luck on a tough project. |

Bluring the edges helps to remove jaggedness too.

Thanks to both of you. I took Utopian23's advice of grayscale, then Gaussian, and it worked very well.
