Hi: This is my first visit to this site. I am trying desperately to understand layers in photoshop. I want to lay one layer over the other. When I import two pictures into photoshop how do I get them to appear on the same layers palette. I have tried repeatedly, read the instructions, and all the time I get the two pictures appearing on two palletes. I can't get my head around this. Can anyone please help me understand the simple steps of importing pictures, having them appear on the same pallete in the appropriate layers. I have CS2.

When you open two images in PS they open up in two separate windows. If this is what you mean by 'two palettes' don't worry, this is perfectly normal. To get one image into the other one:- Open both images so you can see them side by side on your desktop. Click on image 1 to 'activate' it. Select the 'move' tool (top-right tool in tool-box or press 'V' on keyboard) Click and hold down the left mouse button in image 1 and drag over the top of image 2. When you see the 'move' cursor change to a pointer with a '+' sign, let go the mouse button. Image 1 will now appear as a separate layer in image 2. Hope this helps |
