Hey guys, I am having some trouble making a batch process to save jpeg images with web compression. I have been able to record an action to alter the file and resave as a jpeg, but the files are too large (40k instead of 8k) ... Which is what I would get if I chose 'save for website', but the thing is you have to enter the filename and for a batch job where I just want to overwrite the files, this is a problem. So, any clues... Or a link to a free converter ... I think I have one on a backup drive, so if I find it... I will update this thread. Cheers, Rich |

OK, problem solved This freeware package does a great job with batch files and you can set compression factors too. Shrinked each one to about 10k :: http://www.irfanview.com/

You can do it with PS too Rich, You just have to save in script rather than from the action. Want me to throw something together? |

Thanks Torn, I didn't know that... If it's not to much trouble, that would be handy to know what to do in PS as well (is it just a matter of selecting image processor, then inputting a quality). If it is complicated, then don't worry, as this package I downloaded does the job perfectly. |

What quality setting do you want in the script? 60? 80? 100? Sorry about not getting to the earlier, I lost this thread in the shuffle. |
