Blending options help

When applying blending options like lets say a drop shadow, if i apply it to a layer and modify lets say the direction of the shadow it applies it to every layer with a drop shadow...same with bevels. Is there any way to prevent this?

inside the blend mode there is a checkbox there beside the directional thingy that says "global light"..... uncheck it.
