White letters in red background

I am fairly new to Photoshop and am using CS2. When I use a web header with white letters on a red background, it appears that the red has bled into the white letters. It doesn't make any difference in I save the file as a gif or jpeg. This takes place even when the file is saved at 100% quality. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you are applying "vector" text over the Bg it shouldn't give you that...

In what manner are you applying the text to the background?
Are you rasterizing the text at some point?
Are you applying any layer styles to the text?
