when i load a picture in ps is it to be a background layer? and is this why i cant use any of my tools eg: eraser, healing, clone, i still cant figure out why they dont work in the history box it tells me that i used them but on the photo nothing? im getting fed up help! |

mamabravo, I've seen you post this problem before. Was it never fixed? What is the color mode of the image? Image > Mode (what does it say?) If you double click the layer in the layers pallet and make it a floating layer, do your tools work then? |

thanks for your help i tried changing the photo for 8 bit to 16 and still nothing. i tried to float the layer but i cant seem to do this |

I'm not talking about 8 or 16 bit I'm talking about "COLOR MODE" Image > Mode > RGB (or whatever its is set to) In the "Indexed" color model there is alot of stuff that doesn't work. When you open the image FIRST check the "COLOR MODE" setting, set it to RGB. If that fixes it you're golden, if not.. ...in the layers pallet double click on the "background layer" and click OK in the resulting dialog box. |

thanks for all your help the tools did work a while ago i have done everthing you said and it still dose not work oh well! mabye i need to reinstall the program thanks again |
