tool problems in cs2

for some reason my clone tool dodge and burn tool ect... do not work

i have reintalled ps cs2 twice today and they dont work

i know how to use these tools, but im still new to the program.

it is probably some really stupit that i have overlooked

Make sure you have selected the right layer. If you are editing a blank layer above the layer you actually want to edit, you may or may not get any results depending on your settings.
