please. could you help me understanding how to make an image like this - http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/34544378/ the background is abstract and is pretty cool. not really worried about that but it would be cool to know how to make it that detailed. its just i am struggliing to work out how he got the lostprophets eagle shape and cut it out of that layer to show the abstract background behind it. i would be ever so grateful if anyone could e-mail how to do it to me or post it here. You would help in improving my photoshop skills thank you ^_^ p.s. i dont want to exact copy this but so i can use this way of making background. i.e. getting a spongebob outline and make it like the one i illustrated.. making it display the abstreact BG understand me? :S ly |

That's basically just a black layer above the red/pink picture. Take a picture or layer that has the background you want, make a new layer on top of it, fill it with black then use the pen tool or other selection method to make your selection, then just delete it from the black layer and the background will show through. There are more advanced ways to do it with masks and such, but that is the basics of it. Then you can put a 1 or 2 pixel outline layer style on it to give it that outline.
