Hello.

I set up my grid setting to be 1px with subdivisions "1".

Now when I start painting using the Pencil tool, the colors show up slightly off the grid. Any ideas why this is happening? Picture below.

How interesting, and it seems like its not a new problem either.

Photoshop 6.0
An annoying bug. One thing Photoshop perfectionists will find annoying is that selections copied from a Snap To Grid are not always exact. Try selecting a perfect 50 x 50 pixel square and copying and pasting it into a new document. There's a good chance the new file will be 51 x 51 pixels square.

I have never really used grides myself, so i don't really have a solution to your problem. The only thing i could suggest is that if you want something VERY precise is to use guides.

BTW welcome to Teamphotoshop!

Hey thanks for the link - and the welcome.

I'm wanting it to be very precise, as I'm attempting to play around with some "pixel art" - I'm also very new to Photoshop. (MS Paint has always served it's purpose ).

I'll read up on "guides" as you mentioned, google here I come.

Regards,

Guides = Awesome. I can tell when someone doesn't use guides in a design because nothing is aligned exactly.

Turn on Rules
View > Rulers

Once rulers are on you basically just grab the ruler and drag and you now have a new guide which you can move it any way you want. You can even change the color.

I tend to make a box the size i want and then position it on my psd and then put the guides around that. I'm not sure how tedious it would be if you were doing pixel art, but i use it all the time when setting up website sections.

How did you find Teamphotoshop BTW? Do you mind posting some of your pixel-artness in this thread?

I found your forum by ways of magic. No really, "forum photoshop help" on www.google.com did the trick - 3rd site. Usually when I search for help forums I look at the dates of when the last thread was created, and base my judgement on weather I want to post there or not. Yours seemed nice and activly. As for my "pixel-artness(awsomeness)", I've not gotten that far yet, started out making some habbo-style characters - will try and post some of those tomorrow.

Would love to make one of those virtual towns you see everywhere - so pretty - but first things first.

Should have stuck with the magic reason!

Wow!! 3rd site. I wonder what the referral keywords on this site are. I guess it really helps to have 'photoshop' and 'forum' in the actual URL. Nice.

I don't think i can call this fourm 'mine' in any way shape or form. I'm not a regular. I haven't posted here in like 3 years. Helping people is universal though. Babbling even more so. I get my kicks where i can.

It seems a bit dry here. At least compared to 3 years ago. But as long as there are people asking questions and those willing to answer it should do fine.

Geez i think habbo started the pixel art revolution. Is that place even around anymore? Maybe because its just easier to make a point but i can't tell you how many times i've heard 'habbo-style art' weeee. I never got into pixel art. I have fun playing with MS paint as a little kid but that usually invovled making a house, with windows, door, white picket fense, sun, clouds... then setting the whole thing on pixelated fire.

Memories!

Here is a radnom question. What got you interested in art/design/drawing/photoshop in the first place?
