Hi all, I'm new here. Sorry for the desperate title, but that's what I really am. You see I just finished what I thought would be the masterpiece of my life. It's a painting I've used a month on now. BUT, I painted it on a laptop. When I opened the file on my old pc, with a CRT monitor, I found the colours completely different from what I thought they were. The light warm green had turned into a heavily saturated dark-green, in fact all the colours are saturated now. It's darker, and the crispy details are gone. :( The image has also been "squeezed together". I think maybe this is because i painted it on a widescreen laptop. Anyway, Is there anything I can do to receive the same fine result on a CRT as I did on my laptop? Some kind of plug-in or coloursettig I can do? Or is there just no hope for me? Thanks in advance, Sandra |

Are you asking because you are going to continue to edit the photo. How does it look when it prints?

Yes I am continuing to try and edit it. I am just trying to figure out if there is some way to "transport" the graphic settings i have on my laptop to the image - making the image look exactly like it does on my laptop as on the CRT monitor - Not editing the graphic settings on the monitor, just the image. Anyway I was able to fix the "squeezed image" problem, adjusting the Pixel Aspect Ratio, now leaves just the colours. When printed, the image will appear like on the CRT - dark, blurred and with oversaturated green tones. I'm sorry for my bad english skills, I still hope you are able to understand. |

First off, make sure your Color Settings (Edit -> Color Settings...) are the same between the two version of Photoshop you're working with. The one on the CRT/Desktop is probably different than the one on your Laptop. Keep in mind that unless your monitors are calibrated, what comes out of your printer will still probably be different than what you see on the screen. It's never a perfect match. Maybe try to find some tutorials about Color Curves/Color Balance/Color Replacement, etc.. There are many many ways to adjust colors in Photoshop, you just need to do a little homework and find out which method will work best for you. :D Good luck! |
