I hoping someone here can help me out. I'm designing logos that specificity fit onto a product that is irregular in shape. the final image will be printed on to a decal and placed onto the item. What I'm looking for is a way to create a template for the product. So that when I bring a image into PS I can see the boundaries of the product so i can shrink the image or erase areas of the product that I don't want printed to. My product is somewhat shaped like an egg shape. What I've tried so far is to place a piece of fabric over the product and taped it. Then I've cut around the maximum area that can be printed to. Now I'm thinking of scanning the fabric into PS and using it as a layer. I think this will work but I would prefer if it was just a thin line of the outline. Does anyone have any better suggestions?? |

You don't say what version of PS you are working in but I suppose you could use either the elipse shape tool (set to paths) or the elipticle marquee tool (and then change the marquee to a path. here's what you do.... Go ahead and bring your fabric scan into PS.... use it to get the shape you need in the form of a path...(with one of the tools mentioned above) once you have the path... go to the paths pallet and double click the path in the paths pallet and name it. Save the document and you'll have a referrence point. |
