It would be easier to tell you what you need to do if we could see the image, but try this: Duplicate the image so you don't mess up the original scan. Now change the image to grayscale mode:: IMAGE>MODE>GRAYSCALE Hit CMD+L (CTR+L in windows) to bring up the levels pallet. In the levels pallet you'll see what is called a histogram (the mountain range looking thing) Directly under thatyou'll see 3 sliders... the one on the right controls the Darker areas of the image the one in the middle controls the midtones and the one on the left controls the lightest areas. Position the levels pallet where you can see the image behind it, and insure that the "preview" checkbox is checked. Assuming the roads are the darkest items in the image move the right slider to the left a little to darken them up as much as possible without darkening up a bunch of stuff you don't want to keep. Now move the middle slider to the left some, you'll see the midtone gray areas get faded. Now move the Left hand slider to the right and you'll see stuff start dissapearing The trick is to find a happy medium, You can use the eraser to get rid of the stuff you can't get rid of with the levels pallet. In addition you can use the pencil tool to fix any roads you might have lost pieces of. Hope this helps. |
