ok here is another problem im havig w/ photo shop cs2
im doing this tut on making a "simple" sphere,

so far ive done this: Make a new image - 100 x 100 pixels - transparent background.
Create a new layer. Have white as your foreground- and black as your background colour.
Create a circle with the Elliptical Marquee Tool (hold down the shift-key when making the selection to create a perfect circle).
Now select the Radial Gradient Tool, and fill the selection

i get to the gradient par of this but when i try to apply the gradient i get this error "Could not use Gradient tool because the content of the layer is not directly editable" wtf am i doing wrong/ what in god's name dose it want from me?

Its saying the canvas or circle you have is too small. Here's a tip. Create a new image but of bigger canvas size. Eg, 500x500 at 72 DPI. Then make a circle and use the radial gradient.

Did you use the eliptical "MARQUEE" tool or the eliptical "SHAPE" tool?

You'll have to use the Marquee tool to be able to fill it with a gradient
