Can you explain a little further? Or post a link tu the tutorial?

I'm not following whats going on.

What are you saving as a path?

Are you trying to copy and paste the path itself?

yeah umm heres the tut i was using >.>, And yes i know it is an uber noob tut >.>

http://photoshopcontest.com/tutorials/15/pen-tool-as-mask-selector.html

this is the part im having troubles with i think >.>

- Okay. We are getting to the goods now. With the PEN TOOL selected RIGHT CLICK (PCs) on the path you've just created. You'll get a pop-up selection box similar to the one show at left.

Choose
MAKE SELECTION

Ta Da! The toaster is now selected exactly following your PATH. Depending on which version of PS you have, the PATH is deselected and the Selection remains. If the path is still there, go to the PATH palette and select the gray space UNDER the PATH layer to deselect it.

then, you can COPY the selected area into a new document, or CNTRL+J (PCs) to have PS copy the selected area into a new layer above the original.

The TOASTER IS NOW FREE TO ROAM WHERE IT WISHES!
i reread my first post and i noticed how it can be very confusing the way i typed it

this is what i meant: when i save the path after out lineing the toaster, i right click and select the make selection option then i press ctr+c and open a new canvas and press ctr+v and it gives me the parse error

Ok the tutorial isn't telling you to to CTR+C

After you make your path a selection Hit CTR+J to move the selection to its own layer.

After you do that you can create a new document and drag the image you chopped out into it

After right clicking the path and selecting "make selection" you should see the little marching ants (a marquee).

While those marching ants are there if you go CTR+J it does move whatever is inside those marching ants to its own layer.

My meaning of drag it:

In photoshop you can have 2 different documents open, if you select the "move tool" you can actually drag an image from one document to the other.

no problem bro, just keep on hitting it... you'll find out you can do all this stuff too. It just takes doing it, and asking a few questions
