Hey all! I am in desperate need of some help here. I use Photoshop CS (Mac) on a very irregular basis and am having trouble with changing the color of text. I will select the text tool, click on my canvas and begin typing. At this point, I have black selected as my 'foreground color' yet no letters are displayed. Oddly enough, the text color box on the toolbar at the top of my document has a question mark instead of a color. After typing, I will select the text and attempt to change the color to black once again. This does not work even after I select OK after choosing black. The text color box just goes back to displaying a question mark. I know there has to be a super simple answer to this question but I just can't seem to make this text black. Any help for a newb would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!!!!!! |

If I'm not mistaken there is an issue that is fixed in the PS 9.02 (cs 2) upgrade available free from the Adobe site. I remember reading something about almost exactly what you are talking about. |

I don't have the $160 to upgrade right now, but I'm still looking for a fix. If I uninstall and then reinstall Photoshop, will I run into any problems (like settings, current files, etc.)? |

I'm sorry, I thought I saw CS2 up there. Lets see here, Have you tryed trashing your prefs? Quit Photoshop Drag the Adobe Photoshop CS Prefs.psp in the Users/[ user profile ]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS Settings folder to the Trash. Restart Photoshop. If the problem is still there after you re-create the Photoshop preferences file, the problem isn't related to the preferences file. To restore custom settings, drag the file you moved in step 2 back to its original location, and then click Yes to replace the new preferences file. |
