I am trying to meet a deadline friday to turn in a picture for the yearbook, and my senior photographer didn't shoot any pictures with a background that fits the yearbook guidelines, which state the background must be a solid color such as blue, grey, etc. So I seriously need help maybe editing the background of this digital photo so I can get a copy printed off and turned in Friday. Any help would be tremendously appreciated!! Thanks |

First, double click on the background layer in the layers palette to 'float' the layer, it will now be called 'layer 0' Next, you need to make a selection of the brickwork behind the figure in order to remove the background. This will probably be easiest using quick mask (Press Q to enter quick mask mode, and carefully paint with 100% black around the figure. Press Q again to leave quick mask mode and show the selection outline) When you are satisfied with the selection, it could be a good idea to feather it slightly (Select > Feather > Feather radius a couple of pixels) Next, press the Delete key to get rid of the bricks. Then, press CTRL + D to de-select Finally, create a new layer, drag it below Layer 0, and fill it with the colour of your choice. |
