Often I'm zoomed in, editing pixels up close, and I'd like to zoom out to 100% again periodically to check how it looks. What's the best way of doing this?

Cmd+0 (zero) or ctr+0 will take you back to full view. cmd + .... incrementally increases cmd - ....incrementally decreases |

Alternatively, you can zoom your original image to 100%, then go Window>Arrange>New Window. This opens a second window with a copy of your original image in it. Adjust the window sizes so you can see both on the screen at the same time. Zoom in as close as you like to work on your pixels in the new window, the original will stay the same size, and will show the effects of any changes you make right after you make them.

Or view>actual pixels will take it back to its actual size. You'll have to manually zoom in to where you were though. But thats no major chore.
