Question 1 ::: at the top go >Image>Image size from there you can change both the physical dimentions and the resolution (DPI) which will effect the file size Question 2 ::: depending on the complexity of the background there are several ways to go about takeing an image out of its background. The best and by far the most precise is to use the pen tool. Zoom in and start by clicking an anchor point about 1 pixel "inside" the portion of the image you would like to remove from its background... and by clicking and dragging while still clicked you can bend the path to conform to the subject. Create a path all the way around the subject... go to the paths pallet... double click the path you created , Name it... then click the "right pointing" arrow and select make selection.... choose a feather of about 1 or 2... not hit cmd+J (ctr+J in windows) Go back to your layers pallet and you'll see you have 2 layers now... hide the background layer and you'll see the fruits of your labor |
