I know it can be done, and I think I've even done it before, but I cannot remember/figure out how to maintain tag info when I transfer files. I have a new computer and would like to transfer some photos, but want to keep the tags attached, so I don't have to retag! Please help! I've written the tag information into the file and tried backup, export, and burn. The photos transfer, but no tag information.

When you say "tags" do you mean the information you can add to an image by going to: File > File Info

Yes > In Windows, you can add file information to files saved in Photoshop, TIFF, JPEG, EPS, and PDF formats. In Mac OS, you can add file information to files in any format. The information you add is embedded in the file using XMP (extensible Metadata Platform), basically metadata.
XMP (Extensible Metadata Platform) format lets you embed metadata into a document so that you can easily repurpose, archive, or automate files in a workflow. You can also ensure that image information--such as caption, credits, and copyright--travel with the file.
This is something I use everyday, emailing, transporting on disk, bouncing from harddrive to harddrive, etc..... and if it isn't there going from one machine to another I really can't tell you why.

-Edit- I just thought, if that info was entered but the file wasn't saved afterwards that information was not embedded. Also, You "CAN" use the save feature inside that "file info" dialog to save a XMP file.... name it the same as the image... and on the new computer open the image and file info, click load and load the appropriate XMP file.

No > Then what the heck are you talking about!
